A Date with Dance

Tues 12th September 7-9.30pm

Ever wanted to try a dance class but wasn’t sure what to expect? Join us for an informal evening of different dance styles “speed dating fashion” trying a style for 20 minutes before moving on to the next! Finish with a drink and chat with fellow participants and teachers. This was so popular last year, we are holding it again. No previous experience is required, wear comfortable clothes, no special shoes are needed except smooth-soled shoes for tap.  

£5 to include glass of wine or soft drink. Places must be booked in advance.

FOREST ARTS TASTER WEEK

We have a choice of classes for adults and the younger ones.

Portfolio Art

School years 7+

Ideal for GCSE and A level art students. Bring in your own projects and ideas and discuss them in a group environment whilst building your portfolio and learning about artists and movements.

Forest Youth Theatre Company

Our Youth Theatre provides a fantastic opportunity to explore all aspects of drama, working towards a ‘ GRIMM’ Christmas performance using the warped, dark but bright and exciting world of the Grimm brother’s original fairy tales.

Epic Drama

Activities for young people with additional needs, in association with SCARF and Blue Apple.

These exciting sessions for young people with learning disabilities encourage you to use your imagination and creativity.

Parents and carers are responsible for their children and young people and must remain on-site throughout the class.

Be part of our Forest Arts Youth Dance Company, where you will learn, create and perform. Young dancers will learn fundamentals of contemporary dance technique and choreography

ADULT CLASSES

Balance

Monday 18 September, 11am – 12pm

A dance based movement session for the over 60s that encourages mobility and increases balance.

 

Drama for Adults with a Learning Disability

Monday 18 September, 2pm – 4pm

A relaxed creative drama sessions for adults with a learning disability currently seeking employment, aiming to build self-confidence and move people closer to feeling better prepared for employment.

 

Theatreworks – Beginners

Monday 18 September, 7pm – 9pm

For absolute beginners, learn basic stage craft and performance skills including improvisation and voice projection. Build confidence, develop creativity and have a laugh in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere.

 

Exploring the Artists

Tuesday 19 September, 10am – 12pm

Working in a friendly, relaxed studio environment you will be shown the works of Artists and their masterpieces to help develop your creative understanding.  You will use mixed media approaches using a variety of mediums and processes, printing, painting, drawing and collage to create your own work.

 

Ballet – Beginners

Tuesday 19 September, 6pm – 7pm
An informal class led by a professional dance artist. This class is a wonderful way of building strength, whilst improving you coordination, balance and flexibility. Ballet shoes are recommended but not essential, suitable for age 16+.

 

Contemporary Dance

Tuesday 19 September, 7pm – 8pm
Get fit and improve your mobility, strength and flexibility in this vibrant contemporary dance class. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and bare feet, suitable for age 16+.

 

Ballet – Improvers

Tuesday 19 September, 8pm – 9pm

For those who have some previous ballet experience and are looking to take the next steps to developing technique and learning more complex steps and repertoire.

Experimental Drawing

Wednesday 20 September, 7pm – 9pm

The course aims to broaden your understanding of the potential and importance of drawing, and by doing so inspire you to research, develop and improve their own drawing practice. The course explores drawing as the fundamental core that underpins Visual Art.

 

Theatreworks – Improvers

Friday 21 September, 10.30am – 12.30pm                      

For those more experienced performers, Theatreworks- improvers is an opportunity to work collaboratively, improvise, device, write and act. Work on published scripts, look at specific playwrights and their plays and, ultimately, perform to an audience in our professional theatre space.
